Australian Churches Rally – a Message from Mark Conner’

Good afternoon,

Today I’d like to announce a thrilling development in our endeavor to compel an investigation into the CFO.

Recently I said to a colleague, I thought Australian Churches would rally to our cause and I suggested a starting point. As I’ve come to know my colleague, when they say, ‘leave it with me’, I can.

Within two hours we had commitments from churches from Melbourne to Brisbane.  They intend to provide statements regarding their knowledge of the CFO and the alleged trauma reported by ex-members.

I was elated to learn that many of these churches have been following our work and have been quietly preparing to receive an influx of CFO members if they flee the organization.

Indeed, I believe Australia’s Churches are ready to rally, and we’ll publish their statements throughout the coming weeks.

Today, I’d like to thank Mark Conner for the statement we are publishing today. Mark recently transitioned from his role as Senior Minister at CityLife Church in Melbourne, one of Australia’s largest churches. We approached Mark for his statement because of his intimate knowledge of Melbourne Christian Fellowship (MCF) and the high regard he and his family are held amongst the MCF congregation.

We have attached Mark’s biography, which establishes his credentials to speak on these matters.

I’ve also invited Mark to say a few words of introduction below. His statement will form part of our reports to the authorities.

“Any group or community, including churches, can become toxic or even cult-like in the way it treats its members. When this happens, abusive leadership must be confronted, and people should be encouraged to seek environments that support their spiritual, mental, and physical well-being. I commend the work of Samson Rising in fostering accountability and providing a path to safety.”
